Raul Mostoslavsky

Raul Mostoslavsky

Principal Investigator

I am the one trying to keep the people working, motivated, and focused on the fascinating questions behind chromatin that still keep us awake at night. Outside the lab, I enjoy traveling with my lovely daughter Dalilah and my wife Silvina, and I enjoy scuba diving, skiing, photography, tennis, and good music (from Dire Straits to Vivaldi). And, of course, eating good chocolate! I mean, real good.

Lab Manager

I am the one trying to keep the Mostoslavsky lab tidy, organized and running. Quite impossible, but I keep trying! Outside the lab, I love sports and watching my son play soccer and hockey.

Giórgia Silveira

Giórgia Silveira

Postdoctoral fellow

Hi! I am Giórgia and I’m a post doc in Raul’s lab. I am from Brazil (best place in the world!) where I did my Master’s and Ph.D. at University of São Paulo (Brazil). In the lab my work is focused on exploring new chromatin factors involved in DNA damage recognition and repair. In my spare time I enjoy watching TV shows and movies, reading, going to the beach and exploring new places.

Thomas Clarke

Thomas Clarke

Postdoctoral Fellow

Hi! I’m Tom and I am a Postdoctoral Fellow in Raul’s lab. I am originally from the UK and moved to the USA shortly after completing my Ph.D. at the University of Birmingham (UK). In the lab, I am interested in the role of chromatin in the maintenance of genome stability and I hope to identify and understand the role of novel chromatin factors in the repair of DNA damage. Outside of the lab I enjoy reading, travelling and attending sporting events (Go Pats!).

Hyomin Cho

Hyomin Cho

Postdoctoral Fellow

Hi, I am Hyomin Cho who has recently joined Raul’s lab as a post doc. I come from Korea and completed my Ph.D. at Korea university. During my Ph.D. course, I tried to understand the role of drp1-dependent mitochondrial fission in various context. In Raul’s lab, I would like to understand chromatin modification in pancreatic cancer development from tumorigenesis to metastasis, and to understand it in the context of mitochondria. Outside the lab, I like taking a walk in the park with my wife and playing table tennis.

Tiziano Bernasocchi

Tiziano Bernasocchi

Postdoctoral Fellow

Hi, I’m Tiziano Bernasocchi. I obtained my Ph.D. from the Institute of Oncology Research (Bellinzona) and the University of Lausanne in Switzerland, where I studied genetic driver events of prostate cancer. I joined the Mostoslavsky lab to study the crosstalk between metabolism, epigenetic, and cancer. In the free time, I enjoy skiing, hiking, and biking.

Belén Machin

Postdoctoral Fellow

Hi! My name is Belén, and I am currently a postdoctoral fellow working in Raul’s lab. I am from Argentina (yes, the current FIFA World Cup champions!), where I earned my PhD degree from the National University of Tucumán. My research focuses on the connection between epigenetics and metabolism in cancer, specifically in the context of metastasis. Outside the lab I enjoy working out, cooking, exploring new places, and spending time with friends.

Graduate Student

¡Hola! I’m José and I’m a PhD Candidate in the Chemical Biology Program at Harvard. I am originally from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. I enjoy doing many things, some of them being figure skating, traveling to new places, watching drag shows, getting creative with my cooking, and dancing. Science-wise, I am very passionate about biochemistry and organic chemistry. For my thesis research, I’m working towards further elucidating the intersection between metabolism and epigenetic regulation at a histone mark level in both cancer and torpor settings.
