Raul Mostoslavsky

Principal Investigator

I am the one trying to keep the people working, motivated, and focused on the fascinating questions behind chromatin that still keep us awake at night. Outside the lab, I enjoy traveling with my lovely daughter Dalilah and my wife Silvina, and I enjoy scuba diving, skiing, photography, tennis, and good music (from Dire Straits to Vivaldi). And, of course, eating good chocolate! I mean, real good.

Naya Amoh

Graduate Student

Hello, I’m Naya Amoh, I’m a PhD Candidate in the Harvard BBS program. I grew up in Tema, Ghana and Alexandria, VA. I graduated from William and Mary in 2019 with a B.S in biology and Hispanic studies. My research interests are in the role of chromatin factors in DNA Repair. Outside the lab I spend time reading in Boston Commons and going to musical shows.

José Del Río Pantoja

José Del Río Pantoja

Graduate Student

¡Hola! I’m José and I’m a PhD Candidate in the Chemical Biology Program at Harvard. I am originally from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. I enjoy doing many things, some of them being figure skating, traveling to new places, watching drag shows, getting creative with my cooking, and dancing. Science-wise, I am very passionate about biochemistry and organic chemistry. For my thesis research, I’m working towards further elucidating the intersection between metabolism and epigenetic regulation at a histone mark level in both cancer and torpor settings.

Tiziano Bernasocchi

Tiziano Bernasocchi

Postdoctoral Fellow

Hi, I’m Tiziano Bernasocchi. I obtained my Ph.D. from the Institute of Oncology Research (Bellinzona) and the University of Lausanne in Switzerland, where I studied genetic driver events of prostate cancer. I joined the Mostoslavsky lab to study the crosstalk between metabolism, epigenetic, and cancer. In the free time, I enjoy skiing, hiking, and biking.

Hyomin Cho

Hyomin Cho

Postdoctoral Fellow

Hi, I am Hyomin Cho who has recently joined Raul’s lab as a post doc. I come from Korea and completed my Ph.D. at Korea university. During my Ph.D. course, I tried to understand the role of drp1-dependent mitochondrial fission in various context. In Raul’s lab, I would like to understand chromatin modification in pancreatic cancer development from tumorigenesis to metastasis, and to understand it in the context of mitochondria. Outside the lab, I like taking a walk in the park with my wife and playing table tennis.

Shweta Kumar

Shweta Kumar

Postdoctoral Fellow

Namaste! I am Shweta, and I am a postdoctoral fellow at Raul‘s lab. I am from India, and I completed my PhD at the Indian Institute of Science. In my PhD, I studied the role of SIRT2 in aging associated fibrosis. In Raul’s lab, I am interested in looking at novel gene drivers in metastases, from the point of view of metabolism in metastatic cells and epigenetic regulation. Apart from science, I enjoy dancing, painting, crafting, reading, photography, travelling, listening to music, eating, and a lot more!

Belén Machin

Belén Machin

Postdoctoral Fellow

Hi! My name is Belén, and I am currently a postdoctoral fellow working in Raul’s lab. I am from Argentina (yes, the current FIFA World Cup champions!), where I earned my PhD degree from the National University of Tucumán. My research focuses on the connection between epigenetics and metabolism in cancer, specifically in the context of metastasis. Outside the lab I enjoy working out, cooking, exploring new places, and spending time with friends.

Carolina Noble

Carolina Noble

Research Scientist

Buenas!, I am Carolina Noble and I am a Research Scientist at the Mostoslavsky and Bardeesy labs leading and conducting metabolomics strategies for a wide variety of applications on cancer research. I come from the beautiful and tiny country Uruguay in South America. I did my PhD in the University of Copenhagen in Denmark in Toxicology focused on metabolite ID of novel psychoactive drugs using mass spectrometry. I am very interested in the application of emerging analytical tools, particularly mass spectrometry, to help to understand metabolic reprogramming and adaption of tumor cells.
Outside the lab, I spend time with my amazing daughter Emma, Nick and Tom (the dog!), hiking, drinking mate, reading or travelling somewhere.
